Baya

Aeropoli, Mani Peninsula

Interior Design | Norma Interiors

Photography | Alessandro Kikinas

The design philosophy of Baya centered on incorporating natural materials in all forms to bestow the building with a unique character and harmony with its environment. Situated in the heart of Aeropoli, a traditional village in the Mani Peninsula known for its stone architecture, this particular structure was not completely stone-built, featuring stone only at the rear. We chose to reveal and restore these stone walls, accentuating them with linear lighting.

For the remainder of the interior, we selected materials like natural stone tiles for the floors, along with travertine, wood with a walnut stain, and a Calacatta Viola marble for the bar top, all blending seamlessly to appear as an intrinsic part of the locale.

As an all-day bar, it was our intention to create an interior that could transform with the day's progression and varying sunlight.
